The materials for data handling at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 have been tested with groups of students.

Handsworth Grange School students took the KS3 materials for a test drive at the end of last term (Dec 2005) and a group of Y11 students at City School are working through the KS4 materials.

If you want to know how you can access the materials, please contact either Keith or Sue at the CLC.

BOOM! MTV Video Academy

The BOOM! Music Video Academy is an inspiring new education initiative that gives secondary school students between the ages of 11 and 16 the chance to learn, and put into practice ICT skills such as video editing and image manipulation by taking up the challenge of making a music video.

Supported by Adobe and MTV and managed and delivered by Activate UK, BOOM! is open to all schools in the UK and comprises three main elements:

* A nationwide series of teacher training seminars to help teachers expand their creative ICT skills
* The provision of lesson plans to enable teachers to work with students in creating a music video
* A national competition – the BOOM! Awards – to recognise and reward the best videos produced by secondary school students.

The first phase of teacher training took place at the City Learning Centre on the 17th March and was enjoyed by those who came. Teachers from across the region and even as far away as Whitehaven learned more about video techniques and editing software.
